In traditional electrospinning technique polymers are dissolved in chemical with concentration range of 3-20%. During process solvent evaporates so only small percentage of solution is being deposited on collector. This limits efficiency of the process. Additionally small part of solvent stays in the material and long drying time is necessary what is especially important in medical applications. We are currently working to overcome this limitations by electrospinning polymer melts instead solutions. This implies need to head polymer and higher potential difference due to extremely high viscosity. Below we publish comparison table between solution and melt electrospinning:
